Story on banausic materialistic
The alarm goes off; the sound feels like knifes impaling my temples in a rythmatic sense. Barely opening my eyes, I glance at the clock, and realize what time it is. It is twelve post meridiem! I jump up out of bed.
With the curtains closed in the dark rustic room leaves a certain ambiance. Makes a perfect place for one to rest. I was up, so I figured I would at least take a shower to refresh myself.
The pressure was bad, and the water felt like a hose in the early morning after a cold night, with just spurts dowsing you every now and then because of the kinks in the line. Though I was refreshed after I have to say.
By the time I got dressed I realized the post meridiem light was not on, on the alarm clock. With a glance out of the curtains “the sun hasn’t even risen” I say to myself.
I must have forgotten to change it from ante meridiem. It is only one in the morning now, and I still have eleven hours until the correct time I have to call Gloria.
At twelve-twenty I will be able to reach her right when she awakes. That reminds me! I need to call Gaven back. He called last night an hour before my alarm clock went off.
Gaven is a partner of mine, I invited him to come along with me since him and his girlfriend parted about two months ago.
He has been a wreck over the situation; she no longer had an interest in him anymore, and asked if they could find other people. I am not really sure about the exact date they broke up, but he has been acting down, like one would if their mother died.
So I thought he deserved time to relax, and he is one of the only people that thinks like I do and since Gloria is not here, his persistent calling is not a bother. He told me he was diagnosed with insomnia after they parted.
Which is why he stays up so late thinking? Sometimes to the point where he cannot handle it, and calls me.
It does not bother me; I actually enjoy the voice of another. This time I may be able to relax, but I have felt alone. This was the time to think, I have done a lot of that already, and for the past few years.
I kind of wanted to stop during this trip, just shut down. I have found that life isn’t always worth living. For awhile my attempts to find what my purpose was was futile.
Right now I am staying at the Europe Saint Severing on Rue St., Severing 36. It is a nice place in the middle of Paris, France.
My room is rather large, it was suppose to accommodate Gloria and me, and regretfully she was not allowed to attend, because her parents did not want her to come.
That and school is about to start for her, so I took the vacation with my partner Gaven.
I wanted to relax, and write if I could. I live with Gloria, although that does not sound very manly, the boyfriend living with the girlfriend, but I left everything for her. Before I moved I lived in the ravishing, spectacular United State’s of America.
The past few years I had there is what made me leave it? I left a lot to. Though if I was there I would have been consumed by it. The life style was too harsh for me. Their morals clashed with my morals, and I knew I would of committed suicide if I was there for too long.
I just hung up with Gaven, the hotel he said felt confined, felt like a lion in captivity. I laughed, and told him to take some sleeping pills he was prescribed, and try to finally get some rest. It is only four in the morning I had so much time to kill.
There were books scattered all around the room, it almost felt like autumn with leaves, and with each leaf there is a story.
Since reading did not excite me at the moment, I grabbed my stuffed animal that I have had since Gloria gave it to me about five years ago. Her eye look a little worn and the cotton inside are losing it consistency from me falling asleep with her in my arms.
Both of us crawled under the covers to feel the warmth, and then finally in the darkness again, I close my eyes, and fall into a kaleidoscope of ideas. Settling in for a minute, until I doze off. Until I wake myself up from snoring.
There are too many thoughts running through my head, I cannot sleep. I just close my eyes again, let my thoughts surround me, and hold me prisoner. Letting the darkness settle in.
Crap, its six thirty I am fucking late. I did it again; I set the alarm, and did not change it to a.m. There is no time for a shower, just time to brush my teeth, and my hair. Nothing is worse than being in frantic, when you are like this you always leave something.
She pisses me of so bad, she does not understand I have to be at school, Gloria will have to wait for me, I hate when she has to wait for me. Yes, we are finally leaving, as I am already nervous, and my foot tapping against the bottom of the car, I feel like it is going to fall through.
My hands start shaking, in seconds all control is going to be lost “Bye, what time do you need to be picked up”, all anxiety is gone.
Paris, it came to realize the ‘Dreams’ that are now being processed in my old home were not all about money.
I had to think back on all the issues from what brought me here; There were tons of things; I was running from the ‘American dream’, I thought it was going to corrupt me with its materialistic goods with is money, and its need for power and sex.
I did not want to lose touch with which I was, scared like a child from the monsters of government programming us to want to be the richest, just to fulfill its great hunger.
Though I was following an ‘American dream’ I was running away from the mess I made back home and trying to start over. I was losing touch with who I was.
It was neither because of America nor the dreams that stirred around the minds of the people. It was my interpretation of it all. My questioning that got me kicked out of there. I am thankful though. I could not be happier.
